Thanks to Lufthansa, who are forward-thinking enough to include Wi-Fi on some select flights (other airlines: please, please, please imitate this), Apple is touting how easy it is to have a quick video conference seven miles in the sky.
It’s a long flight from Munich to San Francisco, even non-stop. But recently two enterprising Apple product managers cut the distance dramatically with a few at-hand tools: iChat AV, iSight, 17-inch PowerBook G4, a Boeing 777 and an orbiting satellite.
Well that's just great - seeing as video conferencing has caught on like wildfire (I mean, do you know anyone who doesn't use videoconferencing for everyday tasks, like ordering take-out or contacting the wife from a strip club claiming to be working late?), I'm sure this will herald a new age of ubiquitous mobile presence.
Except: that impressive shot out the cabin window shows two engines, and the ostensible aircraft in question only has one per wing. Probably a simple copy error, but still...
(thanks to MemeFirst for the link)
UPDATE: Stefan digs around to find it's in fact an Airbus A340. Why must Apple PR copywriters turn this announcement into a house of lies?
SON OF UPDATE: Setfan pinged them with an email and they changed it. Behold the mighty power of reader feedback.

The members of the cult of the mac will deny this until their last breath of air has been used up. watch out, morland.

i'm fairly new to the cult of the mac (only a couple of years now), but membership does have its priveleges. steve jobs recently presided over my marriage to my 7th virginal wife. we're not talking about fat, ugly, mountain-dwelling mormon polygamy here. this is college-educated, east coast, hipster polygamy. and it's hot.
so if apple says it's a 777, it's a damn 777. now if you'll excuse me, i'm going to get mixed up in a little 7 on 1 action.
